Katja Tavernaro Joins Meyer Burger Executive Board

Meyer Burger Technology Ltd has appointed Katja Tavernaro to the Executive Board. Joining with immediate effect, she will be taking over as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), which is a function that has been recently created. She will also be responsible for Human Resources; Legal & Compliance; and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) within the Group.

Tavernaro joined Meyer Burger (Germany) Group in 2013 as in-house counsel. In 2016, she was appointed Managing Director of Meyer Burger (Germany) GmbH and shouldered the overall responsibility of SIX Swiss Exchange: MBTN, the German subsidiary of the Switzerland headquartered Meyer Burger. At the same time, she was also handling the central functions in ESG and Sustainability. In her role as the Head of Global Human Resources, she has been responsible for the implementation of the company's strategic objectives in terms of human resources since April 2020. She also has been responsible for all legal issues and for ensuring corporate governance and compliance within the Meyer Burger Group. In short, she knows the company very well.

With her appointment, Meyer Burger want to set new standards in the solar industry in terms of sustainability.

Expressing delight at this development, Chairman of the Board of Directors Franz Richter said, "With the appointment of Katja Tavernaro as Chief Sustainability Officer, we want to ensure that a coherent ESG strategy is implemented throughout the company. Not only do we want to produce the most sustainable solar modules in the world, we also aim to set new standards in the industry as a green company in terms of sustainability."

Sharing similar sentiments, CEO Gunter Erfurt said, "Katja Tavernaro is ideally suited to further develop all relevant processes in her areas of responsibility in the upcoming growth phase and to anchor ESG principles throughout the company."

Katja Tavernaro holds an exam in law from the Technical University of Dresden, as well as a degree in Human Resources Management. She is also a member of the Saxony Chamber of Lawyers and a deputy member of the Board of Directors of health insurance company AOK Plus.
