Kenneth Frey has announced joining SOFAR to head the Chinese company’s European business
He previously worked with Huawei Deutschland for more than 11 years in various positions
He last served as Huawei’s Executive Director, Digital Power, a position he held for over 3 years
Chinese solar PV and energy storage solutions provider SOFAR has appointed Kenneth Frey as the company’s president for the European market. Frey joined his new company in January 2025.
Frey has moved over to SOFAR from another Chinese solar inverter and energy storage company Huawei. He worked with Huawei Deutschland for close to 12 years in various positions. He joined the company in May 2013 as an account manager, leaving it in January this year as the Executive Director for the Digital Power division.
In a LinkedIn post, announcing his new position, Frey wrote, “I am thrilled to announce my career will continue in the exciting PV industry, which has become my home over the last 12 years! In my new role as the President Europe at SOFAR I´m looking forward to bringing my knowledge, expertise and passion to this innovative and dynamic company.”
SOFAR claims to have shipped over 18 GW of solar inverters to over 100 countries and regions globally by the end of 2022. It currently operates 2 global manufacturing bases with an annual production capacity of 10 GW PV and storage inverters, and 1 GWh of batteries.
