SunPower Corporation announced that its President Business Units, Howard Wenger will be leaving the company after around 10 years.

Wenger, who has been working in solar for around 30 years, helped SunPower set up its residential business, pioneer a large scale solar business and enter new solar markets. Previously, he was on the board of directors of PowerLight Corporation, which was acquired by SunPower in 2007.

SunPower is currently going through tough times. In its Q3 results it announced to reduce its full year 2016 revenue targets and cut down its production output. The company is currently working on a cost restructuring program, which it plans to announce on December 7, 2016.

SunPower President and CEO Tom Werner said, "Howard helped us blaze a trail in many ways, including building different solar business segments globally, as well as leading the transition of the company to deliver complete solutions for our customers. I appreciate his dedication and commitment to helping us change the way our world is powered."

Wenger will continue with SunPower for the next six months to ensure a smooth transition. No reasons were given for his resignation, no name for a successor was given.
