SunPower Corporation's manufacturing spinoff Maxeon Solar Technologies has announced a leadership change with its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeff Waters ready to leave the company and replaced by Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Mark Babcock as interim CEO.

Waters will step down from his position as CEO and member of the board with effect from September 15, 2022 and Babcock joining the same day.

A part of SunPower group since January 2019 where he was leading the company's manufacturing business along with research and development (R&D) activities as CEO of SunPower Technologies, Waters previously worked with brands as Isola and Altera Corporation, among others (see SunPower Hires CEO For Technologies Business).

Maxeon's Chairman Donald Colvin thanked Waters for his leadership and said, "With the Company positioned strongly for the future, the Board and Jeff mutually agreed that now is the time for a new leader to take the Company to its next phase of growth."

The company has now hired a recruiter to look for a new CEO. In the meanwhile, it will be led by Babcock who switched over to Maxeon from a market entry consultancy called Eurogility. His previous roles include senior positions in Flex, SunEdison and SunPower.

In May 2022, Maxeon hired a new COO as Philippe Costemale to succeed Dr Markus Sickmoeller who was to leave in September 2022 (see New COO At Maxeon).
