DRI, the EU-focused renewables arm of Ukraine-based private energy company DTEK, has announced the appointment of Murat Cinar as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 3, 2025.

Having started his career in the telecom industry with Ericsson, Cinar moved to Lifecell in Ukraine as its Chief Technology Officer. He joined SCM Group, DTEK’s parent, as the CEO of Vega Telecom Group. Cinar has now switched over to DRI from Korek Telcom, where he transitioned from chief transformation officer to CEO.

“Murat will play a key role in strengthening DRI and reinforcing its position as an active contributor to Europe’s energy transition,” said DRI’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Maxim Timchenko.

“Drawing on my experience in growth strategies, M&A, and change management, I look forward to leading DRI through the next stage of its development – executing our strategy to be an active player in Europe’s renewable energy market,” stated Cinar.

Cinar succeeds former DRI CEO Ivan Geliukh, who the company credits with refining the company’s business model to focus on sustainable growth, profitability, and operational efficiency in its core markets of Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Romania.

DRI operates in the fields of solar PV, wind, and storage. In August 2025, it raised up to €60 million in project financing for its 126 MW solar park in Romania (see Europe Solar PV News Snippets).
