Indian renewable energy company ReNew Power has appointed D Muthukumaran as the company's chief financial officer (CFO), a role for which he will move cities from Mumbai to Gurugram (previously Gurgaon). A statement from the company covered by local media outlets says Muthukumaran will fill in for the outgoing CFO Ravi Seth who is retiring from the company.
As the company's new CFO, Muthukumaran will oversee finance and accounts, legal and corporate finance functions at ReNew Power. He joins from the Aditya Birla group where he was the CEO of Aditya Birla PE Advisors Private Limited. Before becoming the CEO of the private equity division, Muthukumaran was the head of Group Corporate Finance with the Aditya Birla Group for 12 years.
Sumant Sinha, the founder, chairman and managing director of ReNew Power is also an ex-Aditya Birla Group executive where he worked in various roles in the past with one of them as the CFO of the Aditya Birla Group.
ReNew Power had a total commissioned and under development solar and wind asset capacity of 8 GW at the end of June 2019. A few weeks back, it raised $300 million through a rights issue from its existing investors Goldman Sachs, ADIA and CPPIB (see ReNew Power Raises $300 Million).
