The Founder and now Ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the world's largest planned solar and energy storage project, Australia-Asia PowerLink (AAPowerLink), David Griffin has moved out of the company to join 5B as its new CEO.

5B is also the technology partner of Sun Cable for the AAPowerLink project. In March 2021, the latter had submitted a development application for phase I of a proposed solar array manufacturing assembly facility in Darwin to pilot a semi-automated production line of 5B's Maverick solar array systems (see Solar Array Manufacturing Assembly Proposed For Darwin).

The Sydney-headquartered technology company with its prefabricated, pre-wired ground mount technology, in an accordion-style, 5B was founded by Chris McGrath and Eden Tehan. 5B aims to make deployment of large-scale solar PV systems faster and less cumbersome.

Griffin is a renewable energy industry veteran, having worked in the utility-scale solar and wind power industry for over 20 years. He previously worked with companies as Renewable Power Ventures, Intikon Energy and Terrain Solar.

The assets of Sun Cable, the company Griffin co-founded in 2018, including AAPowerLink, were bought by Australian billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes' Grok Ventures in September 2023 (see Mike Cannon-Brookes Takes Over AAPowerLink Project).
