US residential solar power company SunPower Corporation has announced the appointment of Jennifer Johnston as the company's new executive vice president (EVP) and chief operating officer (COO).

Johnston was till recently working as the COO and CFO of technology company Nimble Robotics. Before that, she worked with Amazon for around a decade in various senior leadership positions at Amazon Fulfillment, Amazon Logistics, Amazon Go and AWS.

She comes to SunPower after having worked also with brands as General Electric, Bristol Myers Squibb, Saint-Gobain and the Gillette Company.

A bachelor's in business administration, Johnston will oversee SunPower's operations and customer care organizations when she officially reports to work on May 8, 2023.

Welcoming her on board, SunPower CEO Peter Faricy said, "Jen is a proven leader with deep experience in organizations undergoing significant transformation. As we accelerate our growth, her leadership will be essential to ensure efficient day-to-day operations, deliver world-class customer experiences, and build organizational infrastructure that will enable us to deliver on our long-term strategy."

So far, operations have been under the helm of Derek Kuzak, EVP Operations, who joined Sunpower in Jan. 2022 from Amazon. The announcement about Johnston's appointment did not mention any replacements.

Peter Faricy became the company's CEO in April 2021, replacing Tom Werner, who ran the company for nearly 2 decades, a very long period for a 'non-founder' CEO of a public solar company (see SunPower CEO Tom Werner To Step Down After 18 Years)
