SunPower Corporation announced the appointment of Dr Bill Mulligan as its executive vice president of global operations. He currently works as the vice president of upstream strategy for SunPower.
Mulligan is working with SunPower for over 12 years, starting from 1998. Back then, Mulligan was the vice president of research and development at the US company. In this capacity, he led the development of low-cost, one-sun silicon PV cell technology.
He only let SunPower for a short period of time to take up the position of CEO and president for US micro-inverter producer SolarBridge Technologies, but came back in November 2014 when SunPower acquired the company.
SunPower President and CEO Tom Werner said, "Bill's first-hand knowledge and intimate understanding of SunPower's leading technology and solutions, as well as a deep understanding of the competitive environment, made him the ideal choice to lead our global operations."
Mulligan will take over from Marty Neese who is leaving the company to work in a different sector.
