  • Sebastian Petretschek of TUV Rheinland has left the group to join Texas based technical services firm Jacobs
  • Petretschek has joined as the company's Asia Renewable Energy Consulting Lead and will be stationed in Malaysia
  • The news of his departure comes days of Jörg Althaus and Sepinaz Half too leaving the German quality assurance firm TUV Rheinland

After working with Germany's testing and certification services provider TUV Rheinland Group in China for over 7 years, the company's General Manager-Global Head PV Power Plants Sebastian Petretschek has left to join Jacobs as its Asia Renewable Energy Consulting Lead.

Based out of Texas, US, Jacobs is a technical professional services provider catering to various industries including advanced manufacturing, energy and environment, health and life sciences, infrastructure and the like.

After working for TUV Rheinland out of Shanghai, Petretschek will be stationed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to work on Jacobs' renewable energy projects, 'to drive the regional energy transition'.

"I'm excited to join the diverse team of visionaries, thinkers and doers at Jacobs as we work to make the world smarter, more connected and more sustainable," he announced on his LinkedIn account.

Petretschek's departure comes just days after another long timer at TUV Rheinland senior executive Jörg Althaus left the group to join US based solar and storage quality assurance firm Clean Energy Associates (CEA) as its director Engineering Services and ESG in Europe. CEA has since been taken over (see Britain's Intertek Acquires Clean Energy Associates).

Along with the above 2 names, another TUV Rheinland member who worked as the firm's Head of Management Systems Germany/Deputy Segment Manager, Sepinaz Half too bid adieu to the company she worked with since 2015. She announced her departure on her LinkedIn account, but has not announced where she is headed to.

Petretschek was part of TaiyangNews' High Efficiency Solar Technologies conference back in December 2020 (see Day 1: TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Event). TÜV Rheinland Global Segment Coordinator Solar, Christos Monokroussos spoke on a recent executive panel during our TaiyangNews' Bifacial & Solar Trackers Conference 2022 (see How to Optimize Solar Power Plants LCOE using Bifacial & Solar Trackers)

In an earlier version of this article, we wrote that Christos Monokroussos is the new global segment coordinator solar at TÜV Rheinland; in fact, he has this position for 2 years. We apologize for this error.
