US-headquartered renewable energy company BrightNight has announced the appointment of Naveen Khandelwal as the chief executive officer (CEO) of its India business, BrightNight India.
Khandelwal has been elevated from his role as the company's chief operating officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO), the positions he held since 2021 when BrightNight announced its entry into India. Sajay KV was back then announced as the company's India CEO.
Now, Sajay KV has been replaced at the top job by Khandelwal. The latter, with an experience of working in the Indian energy markets for more than 21 years, is credited by the management for having played a critical role in establishing the company's strong presence in India.
BrightNight operates globally as an independent renewable power producer. In India, it supplies green energy to utilities, commercial and industrial (C&I) companies and green hydrogen producers.
The management believes Khandelwal's experience will help the company's business in India as it moves from project development to construction and operations of its multi-GW renewable project portfolio.
BrightNight is working with ACEN from the Philippines on a 100 MW hybrid wind and solar power project in Maharashtra called Optima that's expected to come online in Q1/2024 (see ACEN & BrightNight Announce GW-Level India Partnership).
