Virender Sharma has joined Inox Solar Limited as the CTO for solar manufacturing
Part of the INOXGFL Group, Inox Solar manages the parent’s 7.5 GW solar cell and module manufacturing ambitions
Sharma previously worked with Adani Solar, Websol, Indosolar and Jupiter Solar
India-based diversified INOXGFL Group has appointed Virender Sharma as the company’s new chief technology officer (CTO) to head its solar manufacturing business.
A 90-year-old conglomerate, INOXGFL has investments in fluoropolymers, fluorochemicals, battery chemicals, wind turbines and renewables. It also operates Inox Green Energy Services Limited and Inox Wind Limited.
The group announced its entry into solar manufacturing in December 2024, revealing plans to invest around INR 150 billion ($1.7 billion) to establish 5 GW solar module capacity and 2.5 GW solar cell capacity by 2026. Its maiden solar module manufacturing unit with 1.2 GW initial capacity is planned to come online by March 2025 in Gujarat.
Sharma has joined the Inox Solar Limited business division of the INOXGFL, which manages the solar PV business for the group. He comes to the group with vast experience in technology and tools selection for solar manufacturing.
Calling himself a ‘PV technologist,’ Sharma says his expertise lies in solar cell and module manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, cost reduction for technologies such as TOPCon and heterojunction (HJT).
He moves to the group from Adani Solar where he worked in various leading positions for over 8 years, leaving it as Head Process Cell Module Manufacturing in February 2025. Previously, he worked with Websol Energy System Limited, Indosolar Limited, and Jupiter Solar Power Limited.
INOXGFL will also provide solar project EPC and O&M services through its group company Inox Renewable Solutions Ltd. It says Inox Solar will complement its wind business, making the group a complete renewable energy solution business.
