On April 2, DAS Solar joined 30 global top PV sustainability researchers in the International Energy Agency (IEA) PVPS Task 12 meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland. Represented by Maggie Fang, CSO of DAS Intelligent Environmental Technology, DAS Solar was one of the only two Chinese companies present. During the session, a China-focused project update was shared, offering a comprehensive overview of the country's PV recycling landscape.

DAS Solar Attends IEA PVPS Task 12 Meeting on PV Sustainability and Recycling

The IEA PVPS Task 12 focuses on the sustainability of PV technologies, including circular economy, environmental impact, and life-cycle management. The meeting brought together experts and industry representatives from Europe, Asia, and other key markets to exchange insights on policy development, recycling technologies, and industry trends. As global solar deployment continues to expand, end-of-life module management is becoming an increasingly important topic for the industry. According to the IEA, the cumulative volume of end-of-life PV modules is expected to reach approximately 8 million tons by 2030 and could rise to nearly 80 million tons by 2050.

Against this backdrop, DAS Solar has made PV recycling a strategic priority. The company is advancing Design for Recycling (DFR) principles by reducing material usage and improving recyclability at the product design stage. Through innovations such as wafer thinning and reduced silver consumption, DAS Solar is lowering environmental impact while enhancing resource efficiency.

In parallel, DAS Solar has developed a fully physical recycling process that integrates frame dismantling, thermal delamination, ultra-fine powder processing, air extraction, and multi-stage material separation. This approach enables the efficient recovery of valuable materials such as silicon, silver, and copper, while ensuring minimum secondary pollution. Supported by over 50 patents related to PV recycling, the company has demonstrated strong performance in validation tests, achieving an overall recovery rate of 95.92%.
