Huasun Energy has officially joined the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), becoming the first manufacturer with a fully heterojunction-based industrial chain to be admitted. This milestone marks a further step in the company’s integration into the global ESG governance framework and its development of a sustainable photovoltaic value chain. As a vertically integrated leader in heterojunction (HJT) technology, Huasun has once again received international recognition, reaffirming the significant low-carbon advantages of the HJT roadmap.
The SSI—launched by SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK—is the solar industry’s first global program focused on supply-chain sustainability and traceability. Under the SSI Assurance Process, manufacturing members must have sites assessed within 12 months of joining, demonstrating responsible operations in the world’s fastest-growing energy sector.
According to the latest rules approved by the SSI stakeholder board, starting 1 January 2027, at least 80 percent of photovoltaic modules entering the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom must come from SSI-certified production sites. From 1 January 2028, that requirement will rise to 100 percent. This means market access in Europe will increasingly depend on strict ESG and traceability standards. Against this backdrop, Huasun Energy’s early participation not only demonstrates its genuine commitment to ESG principles but also lays a solid foundation for its products to maintain smooth entry into these key international markets.
Founded in 2020, Huasun Energy is dedicated to the industrialization and commercialization of HJT technology with the vision of “letting solar lead as the No.1 energy.” Working with partners across equipment, materials, manufacturing, and applications, the company has built a complete HJT ecosystem to enable large-scale, low-cost production and global deployment, and is piloting HJT–perovskite tandem cells to accelerate the energy transition.
Environmental leadership: Certified testing shows Huasun’s HJT modules have a carbon footprint of only 366.12 g CO₂-eq/W, well below the industry average. In 2024 its rooftop PV capacity grew 115 % year-on-year to 59.07 MW, while renewable-energy use rose 262 % to 177 million kWh, underscoring its low-energy, high-efficiency manufacturing model.
Social contribution: Huasun provides a safe, healthy workplace and supports local development, creating over 5,100 jobs in Xuancheng, Anhui Province, with 2024 output of about RMB 7.6 billion, up 10 % year-on-year. It leads industry collaboration through the “760 W+ High-Efficiency HJT Club,” participates in four national and two provincial major projects, and has helped draft 20 industry standards including four national standards.
Governance: The company maintains robust compliance, risk-management, and ethical-business practices, supported by a comprehensive code of conduct that covers its supply chain, partners, and customers.
As a new SSI member, Huasun Energy will continue to embed ESG strategy at the core of its operations, advance global green-energy goals, and ensure its rapid growth remains ethical, traceable, and sustainable.
