Madrid, Spain, January 27, 2026 - Sungrow, the global leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, successfully unveils a series of groundbreaking technologies — PowerTitan 3.0 ESS and Single-Platform Design for DC-Coupled PV-ESS Solution at Sungrow PV & ESS Summit in Spain. The event brought together more than 350 partners and industry experts to explore emerging technologies and market trends shaping Europe’s energy transition.
Guided by the theme “More Than Powering Today,” the summit focused on the role of integrated PV and energy storage technologies in shaping the next phase of the power landscape.
PowerTitan 3.0: Next-Generation Utility ESS
The PowerTitan 3.0 features 600Ah+ stacked battery cells and SiC PCS, supporting a 2-8hour duration. A single 20-foot container integrates 1.78 MW PCS with 7.14 MWh batteries, enabling a 4-hour configuration where one block reaches 7.2 MW/28.5 MWh, well-suited for large-scale European projects. The SiC PCS delivers a power capacity of 450 kVA per unit, achieving a maximum efficiency of 99.3%. The stacked battery cells provide higher safety and efficiency and contribute to a system-level round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 92%.
PowerTitan 3.0 is pre-installed and pre-commissioned at the factory thanks to its AC block design. In addition, the system also supports self-configuration and self-checks within one hour. This enables a 1 GWh project to be deployed in just 12 days. Facing European diverse environments, the system operates without derating at temperatures as low as -40°C, making it suitable for Nordic and Alpine regions, as well as for Europe's coastal and high-humidity areas.
Single-Platform Design for DC-Coupled PV-ESS Solution
Sungrow also introduced the Single-Platform Design for DC-Coupled PV-ESS Solution, featuring the 1+X modular inverter series with a dedicated energy storage interface, PowerTitan 3.0 with a built-in DC/DC module, and a self-developed PV-ESS Synergy Management System. The integrated architecture not only enables a long discharge duration of up to 8 hours, supports a high DC/AC ratio of up to 2.0, and offers a flexible ESS power ratio up to 100%, but also delivers system-level cost optimization and improves energy conversion efficiency by approximately 3-5%.
Designed to meet the specific demands of the European market, the solution empowers effective energy arbitrage by capitalizing on peak/valley tariff differentials, ensures a reliable 24/7 green power supply, enhances grid compatibility through optimized dispatch, and eases renewable energy integration pressures. To date, Sungrow’s DC-coupled solution has been deployed in over 90 projects global
Advancing Grid-Forming Technology in Europe
As renewables penetration accelerates across Europe, grid-forming (GFM) technology is becoming a key enabler of resilient and stable power systems. At the summit, Dr. Henry Liu, Director of Sungrow’s Grid Solution Department, highlighted the growing role of GFM in supporting renewables-rich grids and meeting evolving EU standards. Drawing on over 20 years of grid-forming experience, Sungrow presented its core capabilities, including voltage and frequency support, oscillation damping, GW-level black start, and system strength support. These capabilities have been validated in landmark projects, including the 7.8 GWh project in Saudi Arabia, which is the world’s largest grid-forming energy storage plant.
“In 2026, Sungrow continues to prioritize Europe as a pivotal market, reinforcing its commitment through a robust localized service infrastructure,” said James Li, Vice President of Sungrow Europe. “Today Sungrow's European operations are built on a widespread and specialized service network supported by more than 280 engineers, 5 repair workshops, 14 service warehouses, and over 220 service partners. Our two major service centers in Pamplona (9,000 m²) and Munich (5,000 m² including outdoor facilities) serve as hubs for technical training, service innovation, and regional support. Looking ahead, Sungrow will be continuously advancing our European presence through strategic partnerships and next-generation technologies focused on supporting the continent's green energy transition.”
