Sungrow Donates Inverters to Support Solar Research at Leading Latin American University

Sungrow, the global leading PV inveter and energy storage system provider, has partnered with companies MTR Solar, Risen and VGR Energy, to support clean energy innovation in Latin America by donating a solar power plant at Unicamp (State University of Campinas), one of the most prestigious teaching and research institutions in the region.

As part of this initiative, Sungrow donated its high-performance 20kW PV inverter for the project. The installation will serve as a living laboratory for applied research, innovation, and technical training, enabling professors, researchers, and students to conduct experimental studies. They will investigate the operational, environmental, and technical factors that affect the performance and longevity of the solar system.

The data obtained will support improvements in design, materials, and support systems, with the potential to generate more efficient, economical solutions adapted to Brazil's climate reality.

“This project reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and talent development in Brazil,” said Rafael Ribeiro, Country Manager of Sungrow Brazil. “By supporting academic research and clean energy education, we’re not only strengthening Brazil’s solar ecosystem but also laying the groundwork for a more sustainable future.” With a solid local presence and trusted partnerships, the company continues to support the country’s energy transition.

As Brazil prepares to host COP30 in Belém later this year, this initiative underscores the nation’s growing role in global climate leadership and the value of collaboration between academia and industry. Aligned with its mission of “Clean power for all,” Sungrow is committed to empowering local talent and driving sustainable innovation through projects that connect research, education, and real-world application. Recently awarded an AAA MSCI ESG Rating, the company continues to demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance performance.
