Madrid, Spain – April 2026

TrinaTracker, a global provider of smart solar tracking solutions and a business unit of Trinasolar, has reinforced its long-standing collaboration with the Instituto Universitario Ignacio Da Riva (IDR-UPM), part of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, through a new  study focused on its Vanguard 2P tracker.

The project reflects the continued strategic relationship between TrinaTracker and IDR in the field of  product development, particularly in  aerodynamic and structural analysis for solar tracker technologies. Following previous joint work carried out on TrinaTracker’s fixed-tilt structure FixOrigin, the two organizations are now extending their collaboration to Vanguard 2P in order to  analyze different configurations and operating scenarios.

The study was developed jointly by TrinaTracker’s IPD (Integrated Product Development) team and IDR, one of Spain’s leading institutions for aerodynamic testing, wind engineering and structural analysis.

The work was conducted during the 2025–2026 period as part of TrinaTracker’s ongoing product development roadmap and long-term cooperation with the research center.

All activities were based on advanced theoretical analysis and modeling, leveraging IDR’s technical capabilities and research infrastructure in Madrid, Spain.

The initiative focused on analyzing different configurations and scenarios for TrinaTracker’s Vanguard 2P solution under a range of conditions. The aim of the collaboration is to continue strengthening the reliability, bankability and adaptability of TrinaTracker’s products for utility-scale solar projects across different regions and climates.

This work is part of TrinaTracker’s commitment to continuous improvement and the development of solutions based on rigorous analysis and independent scientific collaboration.

As the solar industry continues to evolve, developers and asset owners increasingly require products that can perform reliably under a wide variety of site conditions. Through this collaboration, TrinaTracker aims to continue improving the resilience and performance of its tracker portfolio while supporting the highest standards of engineering  analysis.

The partnership with IDR also demonstrates TrinaTracker’s commitment to innovation through collaboration with internationally recognized academic and research institutions.

“Working together with IDR allows us to  further deepen the analysis of our products under rigorous and highly specialized  methodologies,” said Félix Sabando,  IPD representative at TrinaTracker. “After the successful collaboration on FixOrigin, extending this work to Vanguard 2P is a natural next step that reinforces our commitment to innovation, reliability and continuous product improvement.”

“At IDR, we value long-term collaborations with industry leaders that are committed to advancing technology through research,” said Sebastián Franchini, Director at IDR. “This new phase of work with TrinaTracker on Vanguard 2P builds on a strong foundation of cooperation and highlights the importance of combining academic expertise with practical industry needs.”

Through this initiative, TrinaTracker continues to strengthen its position as a trusted partner for solar developers worldwide, combining advanced engineering, strategic partnerships and a commitment to delivering reliable tracker solutions for every market.
