The TaiyangNews PV Price Index saw 2 new product additions in Calendar Week 38, one in the wafers category and the other in cells. While prices were mostly stable upstream, products downstream saw low to mid-single-digit price declines from CW37.

All listed polysilicon product types maintained their prices WoW in CW38.

2 wafer varieties saw single-digit price declines in CW38, with the p-type 210 mm declining 2.9% WoW and the n-type 210R declining 3.8% WoW.

All cell types listed lost value this week, ranging from a decline of 1.7% for TOPCon 210 mm cells to 3.6% for TOPCon 182 mm cells.

All PERC modules were down single-digits WoW, while the n-type varieties maintained their prices from CW37.

The 3.2 mm (thicker) solar glass declined 4.2% WoW in CW38 while the 2.0 mm (thinner) glass was down 6.7% WoW.

8 Weeks into CY2024, the TaiyangNews PV Price Index has seen greater price declines upstream than downstream. All Chinese polysilicon types have seen close to 40% price declines YtD. Among wafers, the n-type variants have lost over 53% of their value thus far this year. The decline for the TOPCon 182 mm cell (down 43.8% YtD) has been disproportionate among cell types. Module prices have been relatively stable this year, losing only up to 26.5%. And finally, solar glass prices have declined in the 17.9% to 30% range YtD.

The data refers to average product prices in China. The data was collected by Chinese market research firm Gessey PV Consulting.
