Vikranth

There were quite a few price movements for the TaiyangNews PV Price Index in Calendar Week 39. Prices upstream were up or largely stable, while those downstream saw single-digit price declines WoW.

The Chinese n-type silicon gained 3.9% WoW and is now up 6.7% MoM. All other listed polysilicon types maintained their prices WoW in CW39.

3 wafer varieties saw single-digit price increases in CW39: the p-type 210 mm was up 1.2% WoW, the n-type 182 mm was up 3.7%, and the n-type 210R was up 4.0% WoW.

The 182 mm and 210 mm PERC cells were down WoW by 6.7% and 6.5%, respectively. On the TOPCon side, the 210 mm and the bifacial 210R were both up 1.8% WoW.

Prices for all modules declined in the range of 1.3% to 5.6% WoW in CW39.

The 3.2 mm (thicker) solar glass declined 4.3% WoW from CW38 while the 2.0 mm (thinner) glass was down 7.1% WoW.

The TaiyangNews PV Price Index has seen greater price declines upstream than downstream in CY2024. All Chinese polysilicon types have crossed the 39.3% price decline mark YtD. Even with small increases this week, the n-type wafers have lost over 51.3% of their value thus far this year. The TOPCon 182 mm cell (down 43.8% YtD) is down disproportionately among cell types. The declines for module prices have ranged from 21.8% to 29.1% YtD. And finally, solar glass prices have declined in the 21.4% to 35% range YtD.

The data refers to average product prices in China. The data was collected by Chinese market research firm Gessey PV Consulting.
