The TOP SOLAR MODULES report from TaiyangNews presents an analysis of key trends across the top commercial solar modules from integrated suppliers. This 7th edition draws on the monthly TOP SOLAR MODULES feature published over the past 2 years, i.e., the last 24 editions.
Efficiency remains the primary criterion for this analysis. Various perspectives are presented, including top efficiency rankings, top efficiencies by technology, progress of products across different efficiency bands, and module efficiency progress within different cell technology streams. The listed products are first grouped into 4 efficiency bands: 22.5%, 22.0%–22.5%, 21.7%–22.0%, and 21.5%–21.7%, and also into 4 mainstream technologies – back contact (BC), heterojunction (HJT), TOPCon, and PERC.
An important trend noted during the evaluation period from January 2024 to December 2025 is that the number of products decreased considerably from 55 to 45. The reason? A larger number of companies are focusing on the latest technologies and ceasing development and commercial activities with PERC. Traditionally, the top 3 ranks have been exclusive to BC. Even in this report, the top 2 ranks are still taken by BC, while for the first time, TOPCon is now part of this club at 3rd rank. Every technology reached new heights with respect to top efficiency, with latest numbers as follows: BC naturally leading with 24.8%, TOPCon at 23.7%, HJT at 23.5%, and PERC at 21.7%. It is also noted that the highest-efficiency band of >22.5%, which was the least represented in terms of the number of products present two years ago, has now evolved into the most populous band.
As with the previous editions, a high-level review of the module power rating is also included in this report. Continuing from the last two years, this year’s report also reveals the winners of the Badge of Excellence. This badge is awarded to companies that feature in the top 10 for at least 6 months in a calendar year. A total of 10 companies won the Badge of Excellence 2025.
