  • EcoFlow has launched its latest OCEAN 2 series ESS for 3-phase residential prosumers

  • It is equipped with 3.4 kWh battery units, while the cumulative storage capacities can be scaled up to 60 kWh

  • The ESS is commercially available in Germany and the Netherlands

A US-based solar-plus-storage solutions provider, EcoFlow, has introduced its EcoFlow OCEAN 2 series residential energy storage solution (ESS), targeting Germany and the Netherlands.

This ESS comprises a 3-phase hybrid inverter and vertically stacked LFP battery units in a metal enclosure. The hybrid inverter, which acts as a central power conversion system, integrates PV and battery input on a common platform. It is equipped with 3 MPPT channels that can connect with a PV array of up to 24 kW. It helps in extrapolating PV power output in real-time insolation with respect to standard test conditions (STC) at an irradiance of 1,000 W/m² and an ambient temperature of 25°C.

On the storage side, it comprises batteries with a lifespan of up to 10,000 cycles and a discharging capacity of up to 3.4 kWh. In terms of scalability, up to 17 ‘modular’ batteries can be vertically integrated with a cumulative storage capacity of 60 kWh. The company states that it is also compatible with a mix of new and old batteries, enabling future expansion without replacing the inverter.

According to the company, this ESS is currently available in Germany and the Netherlands.
