Sungrow to Supply Storage for UAE RTC Project
Sungrow and Masdar have signed an agreement to supply energy storage and PV inverter technologies for the UAE’s round-the-clock renewable energy (RTC) project, developed with Emirates Water and Electricity Company. The project combines 5.2 GW of solar PV capacity with a 19 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and is designed to provide continuous clean power at utility scale (see UAE To Host World’s ‘1st’ Facility To Provide RE 24x7, At Scale).
Under the agreement, Sungrow will supply 7.5 GWh of its PowerTitan 3.0 energy storage systems and 2.6 GW of PV inverter solutions. Sungrow says its storage system is designed to operate at high temperatures up to 55°C and support stable renewable energy delivery through long-duration charging and discharging cycles. Expected to begin operations in 2027, the project aims to improve grid reliability and support growing electricity demand from industries, businesses, residential areas, and digital infrastructure. It is designed to be a blueprint that can be replicated around the world, it adds.
Spearmint Advances 600 MWh Texas Storage Project
BESS company Spearmint Energy has secured approximately $450 million in financing for its Red Egret battery energy storage project in Texas City, Texas. The standalone project will have a capacity of 300 MW / 600 MWh and is designed to support grid reliability in the ERCOT market. The financing package includes a $225 million construction facility provided by a consortium of banks led by First Citizens Bank and Investec, along with $96 million in preferred equity from Nuveen and around $126 million from an Investment Tax Credit (ITC) transfer commitment.
Construction of the project has started, with Mortenson serving as the builder and Sungrow USA Corporation supplying its PowerTitan battery platform. The project is expected to begin operations in 2027, increasing Spearmint’s operating battery storage portfolio to more than 1.5 GWh across 4 projects.
FPUSA Advances Long-Duration Storage Pipeline
Frontier Power USA has announced an agreement to acquire a 480 MWh portfolio of BESS projects in Texas from Bimergen Energy Corporation. It includes 3 ERCOT-based projects, including a 100 MW / 400 MWh project expected to begin construction in mid-2026. The projects will use American-made Z3 long-duration battery systems from Eos Energy Enterprises under FPUSA’s previously announced 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement.
FPUSA said the transaction supports its strategy of combining project development, manufacturing access, institutional capital, and insured performance solutions to accelerate utility-scale storage deployment in the US. Under the agreement, FPUSA will fund construction equity and hold a 92.5% ownership interest in the projects after closing, while Bimergen will retain a 7.5% economic interest. The companies will work together to bring the projects into commercial operation.
GRID Expands BESS Pipeline with Essex Project Acquisition
Gresham House Energy Storage Fund plc, listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) as GRID, has announced a conditional agreement to acquire a 480 MW/960 MWh battery energy storage project near Rayleigh in Essex, England. The project would increase the company’s new development pipeline from 694 MW to 1,174 MW.
The planned facility would become the company’s largest battery storage project, nearly 5 times bigger than its current largest operational site. GRID said the project’s location in southern England could help reduce grid costs and support the integration of more than 6 GW of planned offshore wind capacity in the region. Completion of the acquisition depends on the project securing an acceptable grid connection offer from the UK’s National Energy System Operator (NESO) between September 2026 and January 2027.
Helios Completes 550 MW Finland BESS Deals
Helios Nordic Energy AB has divested and delivered a 125 MW/250 MWh BESS project in Finland. This brings its total divested BESS capacity in the country to more than 550 MW/1,100 MWh over the past 6 months. The transactions include 6 separate projects sold to a mix of international independent power producers and infrastructure funds, although the buyers were not disclosed.
The company said the projects will support grid stability and help integrate more renewable energy into the Nordic power system. Helios added that the deals reflect growing interest in energy storage projects across the region. Helios entered the Finnish market 3 years ago and has since expanded its development pipeline. Alongside its BESS activities, the company has also developed and divested more than 300 MW of solar PV projects, many of which are operational or under construction.
