HyperStrong and SMA Solar have signed a strategic agreement focused on global utility-scale energy storage projects
The partnership combines HyperStrong’s integration expertise with SMA’s inverter, MVPS, and service technologies
The partners aim to support scalable and standardized storage solutions for the global energy transition
China-based Beijing HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd. and Germany’s SMA Solar Technology AG have joined hands to collaborate on utility-scale energy storage projects across international markets, combining their expertise in battery storage and photovoltaic technologies.
The collaboration will combine HyperStrong’s system integration expertise with SMA’s Sunny Central Storage inverter technology, Medium Voltage Power Stations (MVPS), and global service capabilities to deliver grid-compliant and flexible energy storage solutions (see SMA Solar Launches 40-ft Skid-Based Power Station).
Peng Shu, Co-founder and President of Operation at HyperStrong, said the agreement marks ‘a new stage’ in the companies’ cooperation. Shu added, “By combining the strengths of both companies, we aim to provide customers with more reliable and flexible energy storage solutions, while further strengthening our collaborative delivery capabilities for global energy storage projects.”
SMA CEO Jürgen Reinert said the agreement is expected to strengthen the global supply chain for energy storage projects and support continued innovation in storage technologies. For SMA, battery energy storage is carving out a significant portion of its business. As of March 31, 2026, its order backlog of €1.41 billion mainly comprises large-scale solar and BESS projects (see SMA Solar Q1 2026 Revenue Rises, Net Loss Widens).
The companies also said they aim to strengthen coordination across the energy storage value chain and improve global project delivery and service capabilities.
This collaboration is intended to support the development of standardized, scalable, and globally adaptable storage solutions as demand for energy storage continues to grow, they add.
Recently, HyperStrong signed the ‘world’s largest commitment’ for energy storage when it announced a strategic cooperation with CATL for 60 GWh of sodium-ion batteries over 3 years (see Global Battery Storage News Snippets).
