SolarEdge has launched its Nexis series solar-plus-storage platform for Germany
Its ‘modular’ architecture supports an energy storage range of 19.6 kWh to 78.4 kWh
The company’s recent transition to a ‘Single SKU’ number-based shipping consolidates multiple inverter power classes into a single part number
SolarEdge Technologies, Inc., a global supplier of PV and DC optimized inverters, has introduced its Nexis series residential solar-plus-storage system in Germany.
At the core of this system is a 3-phase hybrid inverter with a rated power output of 20 kW. Engineered to support DC/AC oversizing up to 200% of its AC capacity, it maximizes solar harvesting throughout the day. Based on a ‘modular’ LFP battery-based architecture, each battery unit of this system has a rated capacity of up to 4.9 kWh. Vertically stacking up to 4 such units yields a cumulative storage capacity of up to 19.6 kWh. This can be further scaled up to 78.4 kWh by connecting 4 identical vertical stacks in parallel. However, given that the company has not provided the battery unit’s C-rate, the maximum backup duration during a grid outage remains unknown.
This inverter replaces a conventional IGBT-based power stack with SiC-based switching devices and enables a higher switching frequency. It exhibits unspecified lower conduction losses during conversion processes, either for rectification (AC-to-DC) or inversion (DC-to-AC). According to the company, these characteristics are particularly relevant under partial load conditions, where maintaining efficiency is often challenging.
The company recently migrated to the ‘Single SKU’ number-based export to Europe. This consolidates multiple power classes into a single inverter and part number. As a result, it simplifies logistics, inventory management, and installation processes for European customers, SolarEdge added.
Pascal de Boer, General Manager Europe, SolarEdge, noted that evolving regulatory and consumer requirements in Europe are driving demand for systems that combine flexibility with ease of adoption.
