Hanergy's US subsidiary MiaSolé Hi-Tech Corp has reported achieving 18.64% aperture area efficiency for a commercial size flexible CIGS PV module with an aperture area of 1.08 m²,which means it has surpassed its own record of 17.44% aperture area efficiency reported in July 2019 (see Fraunhofer Confirms MiaSole's 17.44% Efficiency Record).
The flexible thin-film solar technology company managed this increased efficiency level using cells and a record module manufactured using its own production equipment in Santa Clara, California. It has once again been independently confirmed by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.
"This latest achievement in the flexible thin-film solar module performance is a testament to MiaSolé's advantages of performing research and development at the manufacturing scale," said Dr. Atiye Bayman, CTO of MiaSolé. "Rapid improvements in process development can be realized showing the extendibility of our Roll Coater technology for our customers."
In another research work carried out by the US company in July 2019, MiaSolé's 20.56% solar cell efficiency for its thin-film device deposited on stainless steel foil was independently certified by NREL of the US government (see MiaSolé Reports 20.56% Efficiency For CIGS Cell).
