  • 1KOMMA5° has launched a new full black solar module using German polysilicon from Wacker Chemie

  • It offers up to 22.8% efficiency and is available in 2 variants of 445W and 450W

  • The company is offering increased product and performance guarantee of 30 years

German clean-tech startup 1KOMMA5° has introduced a new solar PV module with n-type TOPCon technology and 22.8% power conversion efficiency, using local polysilicon from Wacker Chemie. This follows the company’s maiden solar panel launched at the end of 2022, also with German polysilicon.

This full black double glass solar module uses polysilicon sourced from Saxony and Bavaria. Its production costs are hence ‘significantly’ higher than those made with Chinese polysilicon, but 1KOMMA5° CEO and Co-founder Philipp Schröder amplified the German and the larger value-creation it promotes by maintaining the ‘highest’ environmental and social’ standards.

To compensate, the company said it is increasing the product and performance guarantee from 25 to 30 years, above the market average, including reinsurance.

In addition, the company guarantees that a nominal output of at least 86% of each PV module will be achieved over a period of three decades at the end of the guarantee period.

The new module is available in 2 power levels of 445W and 450W, both using 2mm glass on the front and back to withstand demanding loads from snow and wind. To differentiate its product from comparative products available in the market, 1KOMMA5° said it is consciously focusing on quality and durability.

“With our new solar module, we are achieving solar electricity generation costs starting at 5 cents per kilowatt hour over a period of 30 years,” said 1KOMMA5° CPO and Co-founder Jannik Schall.

1KOMMA5° is planning a TOPCon solar module factory in Germany with 5 GW annual installed capacity by 2030, of which it targeted 1 GW to be launched in 2024 under phase I (see TOPCon Solar Module Production In Germany).
