  • The battery developed by Elestor are significantly cheaper than lithium-ion batteries with a lifetime cost that is 2 to 3 times lower and has 25 years of service life
  • According to company, elstor's batteries use sustainable and abundant chemical composition and have round trip efficiency of upto 75%
  • These batteries can be scaled up to meet the needs of large scale energy storage applications.

Elestor is a Dutch company that develops and manufactures megawatt-scale flow batteries. The specialty of these batteries is that they use hydrogen bromine, which is a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to chemicals used in other flow batteries. Elestor's batteries are designed to be durable and have a long service life of up to 25 years. They are also highly efficient, with a round-trip efficiency of up to 75%. Elestor's batteries have the potential to revolutionize the energy storage market.

These batteries are significantly cheaper than lithium-ion batteries, with lifetime storage costs that are 2 to 3 times lower. This is because bromine can be extracted from seawater, which is a much more abundant and affordable source than the materials used in other flow batteries. Integrating the system into an existing hydrogen infrastructure even eliminates the need for a separate hydrogen tank.

Elestor won the ees AWARD 2023 for its storage solution. the panel was particularly impressed with Elestor's batteries because of their unique chemical composition, low energy costs, and scalable design. These batteries have the potential to contribute to a CO2-neutral future by providing a cost-effective and sustainable way to store energy.
