Cracking 24% Module Efficiency Level

TÜV SÜD Certifies Aiko Solar’s Claim For 24% Efficiency For All Back Contact Solar Panels - A New World Record For Commercial Modules

  • Aiko Solar has achieved a record efficiency of 24% for its ABC solar modules
  • It breaks the Chinese cell manufacturer's previous record high efficiency of 23.6%
  • It plans to unveil details about the same during SNEC 2023 where TaiyangNews will also be present

China's Aiko Solar has announced a major breakthrough for its solar module efficiency, reaching a record 24% efficiency for its all back contact (ABC) modules, a feat certified by Germany's TÜV SÜD.

With this, Aiko has broken its own record of 23.6% efficiency which has already made it the No. 1 of TaiyangNews Top Solar Modules List (see Top Solar Modules Listing—May 2023).

In an official announcement, Aiko doesn't share too many details as it will be showcasing the 24% efficiency module at SNEC 2023 in Shanghai, to be held from May 24-26. TaiyangNews' team is attending SNEC too.

On its website, Aiko talks about its n-type ABC White Hole series of modules with a maximum module efficiency of 24%. These have a maximum power output of 620W with no finger on the front and -0.29%/°C temperature coefficient.

"Improvement of module conversion efficiency means the same area can generate higher power. Therefore, the conversion efficiency every 0.01 percentage point increase means a lot," stated Aiko.

The Chinese cell manufacturer uses an all back junction architecture for its ABC module with silver-free metal coating and 182 mm wafer format (see Record Efficiency Solar Module From Aiko).

Aiko presented at the recent TaiyangNews Distributed Solar & Storage 2023 conference, where it talked about the benefits of its high-efficiency modules for the profitably of rooftop solar projects (watch Aiko's presentation here).
