  • The modules can be customized in terms of size, shape, and color, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, including greenhouses, balcony PV, golf carts, and other specialty applications that favor flexibility and light weight
  • DAS Energy is targeting a number of specific market segments with its lightweight and flexible solar modules, including greenhouses, balcony PV, golf carts and other specialty applications

DAS Energy, a German company that specializes in solar modules, promoted its line of lightweight and flexible modules during Intersolar 2023. The modules are made from a proprietary fiberglass reinforced plastic core (prepreg) that is significantly lighter and more flexible than traditional PV panels.

The USP of these modules is that they are flexible and weigh just 3.3 kg/m2. This is because the fiberglass reinforced plastic core is much lighter than glass, and no metal frames are used in the modules. This makes them easier to install and transport, and they are also more resistant to damage from the elements. The modules are also backed by a 40- year performance guarantee for building-integrated and building-applied modules.

DAS Energy is offering its modules in different sizes and shapes. For example, its 12 x 2 series measures 2,035 x 377 mm and has a power output of 120 W. DAS Energy is promoting its products for a wide range of applications, including greenhouses, balcony PV, golf carts, and other specialty applications that favor flexibility and light weight.
