  • GameChange Solar launched a rivet-based module mounting alternative suitable for its Genius series trackers

  • This solution offers enhanced speed of installation and lower maintenance costs, compared to the standard bolt-based peers

  • Its performance and reliability have also been verified by an in-house as well as a third-party lab

Connecticut, US-based PV tracker and fixed-tilt racking system provider GameChange Solar recently introduced its rivet-based module mounting option for its Genius series tracker.

Speed of installation and long-term maintenance-free operation are among the key features of this product. The standard bolt-based mounting, which connects the modules and racking system via the pre-punched mounting holes, requires maintaining a preset torque to ensure tightness and resilience to extreme environmental loads. In comparison, the company’s latest 2-piece rivet solution, which consists of a rivet pin and a tubular metal collar, uses a rivet gun that automatically locks the connection and cuts off excess pins without any torque adjustment needed afterward. These attributes enable quicker installations and long-term durability of the mounting. The company pitches this rivet mounting option as an alternative to bolt-based solutions for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies.

This new product has also undergone performance and reliability testing, according to the UL 2703 standard, both in a third-party (Intertek) and an in-house lab, without failure. This standard ensures structural integrity and electrical grounding performance of mounting systems and devices, among others, with flat-type PV modules. The company stated that the installation and removal tools for this mounting solution were evaluated at its installation training center. It added that this evaluation provides an insight into the practical nuances of on-site field deployments.
