GCL Group, along with its perovskite cell technology-based product development subsidiary GCL Perovskite, promoted its latest perovskite product offerings at Intersolar Europe 2024. According to the company statement, GCL Perovskite is building the world’s first GW-level production base for large-size (1.2 x 2.4 m) perovskite tandem modules.

Perovskite module

Speaking to TaiyangNews at the event, the company showcased its latest PV modules based on perovskite cell technology. The company displayed 2 different versions of perovskite cell-based modules – the Single-Structure Perovskite Solar Module & the Tandem Perovskite Solar Module. GCL’s Single-Structure Perovskite Solar Module, measuring 1,000 x 2,000 mm, boasts an efficiency of up to 19.04%. The company noted that the low synthesis temperature of below 200℃ required for perovskite layer fabrication could cut carbon emissions by more than 90%.

Besides the single-junction perovskite module, the maker promoted its latest perovskite PV module based on the perovskite layer topped on a silicon solar cell or perovskite tandem cell technology. The Tandem Perovskite Solar Module’s conversion efficiency reaches up to 26.36% in a module dimensions of 1.71 m². The company claims its perovskite-silicon product has cleared all efficiency stability tests conducted by TÜV Rheinland. The company expects to commercialize a tandem perovskite module with a conversion rate of 27% or above after the inauguration of a 500 MW perovskite stacked module plant in mid-2025.

n-TOPCon module

The company also launched an n-TOPCon cell-based standard dual-glass PV module under the GCL-NT12R/66GDF series. The module, featuring a half-cell matrix consisting of 132 pieces of 210 mm half-cells, boasts a power output of up to 620 W and an efficiency of 23%. This model offers 5 different power classes between 595 W and 620 W. The 2,382 x 1,134 x 30 mm dimension module, laminated with 2 mm thick front and rear glass, is suitable for utility-scale projects and certified for sand abrasion tests, salt mist tests, and ammonia tests. GCL SI further added that the latest module is certified for up to 2,400 Pa front-side wind load and 5,400 Pa rear-side snow load capacity.

For the GCL-NT12R/66GDF series, the mainstream power classes of 610 W to 615 W are now in mass production. With an ongoing upgrade in technology and production, the 620 W version is expected to be in mass production within the next few months, added the company. GCL SI offers a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year linear power warranty for this product.
