Grand Sunergy’s Full Scenario HJT Module Offerings At SNEC 2024

Application-Specific HJT Modules In Focus At The Company’s Booth

Grand Sunergy, a fairly new entrant in HJT cell and module manufacturing, showcased its latest multiple-scenario HJT modules at the recently concluded 17th SNEC PV+ event in Shanghai, China. Established in January 2022, till now the Jiangsu-headquartered company has a 7 GW module manufacturing capacity in Anhui province and a 1.2 GW HJT cell production unit in Xuzhou city. Speaking to TaiyangNews at the event, the company highlighted the latest additions to its ‘Chasing’ and ‘Eutropic’ series HJT modules.

Utility application

The company displayed the brand-new Chasing series 700 W+ capacity HJT module integrated with busbarless (0BB) metallization technology for the utility-scale application. The latest model, in a 132 G12 HJT half-cell matrix and measuring 2,384 x 1,303 x 33 mm, boasts a power output of up to 751.24 W and an efficiency of up to 24.18%. The module’s high efficiency and power can be attributed to the module’s key features, such as the successful implementation of 0BB metallization, high bifaciality of more than 85%, improved performance in weak-light irradiation, and low-temperature coefficient. In busbarless metallization technology, the soldering ribbon is directly glued over the cell surface instead of hot soldering in specific soldering points over the cell busbar area. This metallization process eventually improves the risk of hidden cell microcracks, optimizes silver usage, and enhances cell efficiency by gaining additional active cell surface area, added the company. The company emphasized that its 0BB metallization process yielded 30% savings in silver usage. The new utility-scale model’s 12 years of workmanship warranty and 30 years of linear power performance warranty underscore the module’s enhanced long-term power retention capability. According to the company, this Chasing series 740 W power class model is expected to be commercially available by Q1 2025 and the 751 W module by either Q3 or Q4 2025.

Offshore application

Acknowledging the market demand for offshore applications, Grand Sunergy introduced the latest Seapower double-glass 730 W and 23.5% efficient HJT module as part of the Chasing series. This module, measuring 2,384 x 1,303 x 33 mm, is configured with 132 pieces of G12 HJT half-cells interconnected using the SMBB technology. The company says the Seapower module has been designed for offshore applications with suitable bill-of-materials (BOM). The water-resistant PIB sealant across the module frame underscores the module’s enhanced water vapor or humidity ingression resistance due to constant proximity to water, explained Grand Sunergy. It also added a light conversion film (LCF) as an encapsulant to mitigate the risk of detrimental ultraviolet (UV) rays for the HJT module. To improve the module’s durability in external environmental stresses like wind and waves, the module maker uses a frame of composite polymer materials that enhances mechanical strength and improves resistance to corrosion and the occurrence of PID defects.

Recently, the company secured a 400 MW offshore PV project order from China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) (see here).

Distributed generation (DG) application

Alongside the modules for utility applications, the company also introduced its latest Eutropic series M10 size HJT half-cell-based modules for DG applications. The 182-108 all-black dual-glass HJT module boasts a power output of up to 450 W and 23.02% efficiency. The successful implementation of 0BB metallization technology, processed with tailormade black soldering ribbon and black high-reflective encapsulant, lends an aesthetically pleasing all-black appearance to the module, noted the company.

On the other hand, the Eutropic Series 182-144 Single-Glass HJT Module, configured with tempered front glass and high-water barrier encapsulant, offers a maximum power of 610 W and efficiency of up to 23.61%. Its lightweight design is best suited for rooftop applications, added the company.
