  • Growatt’s new APX series battery stack supports up to 6 identical units, taking the storage capacity to up to 30 kWh

  • This battery system can be configured with existing APX series battery stacks, saving initial capital investments

  • It also features a mix of real-time SoC measurement functions

Growatt, a provider of inverters and storage solutions, has introduced its latest battery system, APX HV Battery 2.0, for residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar-plus-storage applications.

The company classifies the product’s key features into modularity, storage flexibility, installation-friendliness, and operational endurance.

This system comprises lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) based cells, each with a charging/discharging capacity of up to 5 kWh. It supports up to 6 battery units, connected vertically in a single enclosure, scaling storage capacity to up to 30 kWh. In addition to this modular design, the company says this new battery system offers flexibility in terms of compatibility with currently available models within a single system that protects the earlier investment. This product supports mixed SoC operation, covering individual units and a unified battery stack, compared to only individual unit-level measurement in conventional peers. This helps improve discharge performance, keeping it within the battery’s safe limits via the battery management system (BMS). The company adds that this battery is housed in an IP66-rated enclosure and is designed to operate complex functions (a few mentioned above) within an external temperature range of -20°C to +55°C and environmental stressors, without derating.

In addition to operational advantages, its cable-free, plug-and-play architecture in a ‘compact’ footprint enables quick installation. This system can be paired with its MOD-HU Series hybrid inverters, notes Growatt.

The company didn’t disclose the new product’s commercialization details in its press release.
