HiTHIUM showcased its LFP cell technology-based BESS for an AI data center’s base load demands at RE+ 2025
The company also displayed its sodium-ion cell-based peak load demand BESS
Its stall featured a model dedicated to assessing the lifespan of AIDC BESS
Battery energy storage solution (BESS) provider HiTHIUM showcased its latest offerings aimed at data center applications at RE+ 2025.
For some background, data centers that cater to AI workloads, called ‘AIDC’, demand an uninterrupted power supply that can endure millisecond-level load fluctuations. These fluctuations can potentially cause power supply instability, which in turn affects computing performance. Additionally, the green transition mandate for data centers to reduce costs and emissions raises concerns about the intermittent nature of renewable energy. Meeting both ends of a stable power supply and utilizing clean energy necessitates the use of an 8-hour long-duration BESS, stated the company.
HiTHIUM presented its latest long-duration backup BESS, ∞Power 6.25MWh 8h, tailored for AIDC base load demand, at the show. Built with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells, this system can deliver up to 6.25 MWh of backup energy for up to 8 hours. Additionally, for peak load demand, where load fluctuations are frequent, the company rolled out its latest shorter-duration backup BESS – ∞Power N2.28MWh 1h. This storage solution, consisting of 162 Ah sodium-ion-based battery cells, can deliver up to 2.28 MWh of backup energy in 1 hour. According to the company, blending these 2 cell technologies can enable operators to meet the dynamic workloads without compromising computing performance. Compared to the instantaneous usage of RE, pairing with BESS enhances the utilization of RE and reduces the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), although the company didn’t quantify it.
In addition to these latest BESS, HiTHIUM promoted a simulation model dedicated to assessing the lifespan of AIDC BESS. According to the company, it provides precise insights into system degradation.
Kush Sutaria, HiTHIUM’s Senior Manager of Application Engineering, said, “At HiTHIUM, we designed our AI data center energy storage portfolio with customer operations in mind. The ∞Power 6.25MWh 8h BESS reduces auxiliary consumption and maximizes long-duration efficiency, while the ∞Power N2.28MWh 1h BESS built on the ∞Cell N162Ah, delivers 20,000 cycles and stable performance even under millisecond-level load fluctuations. These capabilities ensure operators can achieve reliability and cost efficiency as AI data centers push the boundaries of energy demand.”
The company will manufacture the displayed BESS at its Texas factory, which has an annual production capacity of up to 10 GWh.
