The latest TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES Analysis 2024 examines the share of various solar cell technologies – IBC, HJT, TOPCon, and PERC – over the past 2 years. Our previous article focused on IBC technology (see IBC Technology: Efficiency Leader With Limited Representation In 2024). In this article, we turn our attention to HJT, analyzing its market trends and performance.
The number of HJT products initially remained stable at 9 for the first 2 months of 2024, with the technology claiming a share of 16%. However, in March, the count decreased to 8 and the share to 14% due to the delisting of Canadian Solar’s HJT module, as its datasheet was no longer available on the company’s website. Later in October, China’s Grand Sunergy entered the TOP SOLAR MODULES listing with its HJT module, bringing the product count back up to 9 and increasing HJT’s relative share to 17%, which remained so till the end of the year.
HJT started 2023 with a stable number of modules and participating companies until May with 6 companies – Huasun, Canadian Solar, REC, Akcome, Meyer Burger, and Jinergy. In June, Risen commercialized its HJT module, increasing the count to 7 and maintaining an 18% market share for HJT products. By August, URECO joined the list, further expanding the count to 8. Then, in December, Tongwei entered the listing, taking the product count to 9. Despite this increase, the relative share of HJT products dropped 2 percentage points to 16% by the end of 2023.
