Hopewind showcased its turnkey MV PV inverter solution for 1,500 V systems, also referred to as a central PCS (Power Conversion System) station, at the event
This compact system can sustain full-load operation at ambient temperatures of up to 51°C
It delivers up to 3,000 kW of 3-phase AC power or 3,300 kVA of apparent power at 690 V, which can be stepped up to 35 kV via a transformer
Hopewind, a Chinese wind power converter manufacturer that expanded into the PV segment, recently showcased its latest product portfolio at Intersolar Europe 2025.
The TaiyangNews team’s visit to the company’s booth was hosted by Andrzej Zalewski, General Manager, West and Central Europe, at Hopewind. He drew the team’s attention to a miniature model of the company’s latest MV PV inverter turnkey solution for a 1,500 V system or central PCS (Power Conversion System) turnkey station. One side of this hybrid system can operate with a PV system, while the other side has a containerized battery bank. According to Zalewski, the European market is witnessing high demand for such products to ensure grid balance. Skeptical about the primary reason for the recent blackout in Spain, he pointed to the importance of this kind of utility-scale ESS system, targeting the European market.
According to the company’s datasheet, the HPPS Series PCS turnkey station, equipped with up to 14 DC input channels, each with up to 281 A current carrying capacity, has a DC operating voltage range of between 1,000 V and 1,500 V. Fed by high DC power, this turnkey station’s integrated PCS can deliver up to 3,000 kW 3-phase AC or 3,300 kVA apparent power at 690 V system voltage. Supporting multiple grid ancillary services, such as PQ and VSG, it can support up to 3,150 kVAr reactive power. In line with the grid side requirement, the AC output power from the PCS is fed by an intermediate oil-immersed isolation transformer, whose output voltage range can be customized between 6 kV and 35 kV. According to its datasheet, this turnkey station, featuring 3-level technology, can achieve a maximum conversion efficiency of 99%. Leveraging its liquid-cooling technology, this compact system can deliver full-load current for up to 51°C operating temperature, while a 110% overload can be sustained for a maximum of 45°C, without derating.
Regarding operational safety under extreme environmental scenarios, this IP65-rated enclosure-based model is certified to up to C5 anti-corrosion degree. This turnkey station can offer grid support functionalities, such as HVRT, LVRT, frequency or voltage adjustment, and inertia response.
