Huawei, one of the leading photovoltaic (PV) inverter and energy storage solution (ESS) providers, displayed its latest next-generation all-scenario FusionSolar Smart PV+ESS solutions at the Intersolar Europe 2024.

Speaking to TaiyangNews, the company highlighted a wide range of product offerings suitable for multiple applications.

Smart utility scale RE + ESS system

Huawei's utility-scale PV+ESS FusionSolar solution offers smart renewable energy (RE) generation in combination with the PV system, ESS, load, grid, and intelligent power management system to drive the PV generation from the grid, post-grid-forming. The company explains that its latest PV+ESS system connected with a weak grid system, works on the principle of redefined system voltage, frequency, and power angle, leading to higher RE generation in a fully integrated stable power system. Huawei claimed its latest solution is tested in all types of power grid environments. The company's existing smart ESS system is upgraded with the new Cell-to-Grid Smart String & Grid-Forming ESS Platform with improved capabilities – safety, grid forming, intelligence, and efficiency. The platform consists of the Smart String ESS, Smart String PCS, Smart Transformer Station, Smart Array Controller, Smart Power Plant Controller, and Smart Energy Management System with multiple key features.

The company says its smart intelligent technology allows flexibility in the capacity addition of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells and adjusts with any C-rate in tune with different application scenarios, ensuring full lifecycle cost-effectiveness. It added that its latest platform is designed with integrated safety features from individual cells to grid connection and can create a stable and reliable grid under various scenarios. This product has been available in the market since 2022 in many regions such as China, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.

C&I scale solution

Huawei has upgraded its C&I Smart PV solution to FusionSolar OASIS Solution for C&I applications, which comprises optimizers, inverters, ESS, and EV chargers.

The company demonstrated the latest LUNA 2000- 129/161/200KWH-2H1 series smart energy storage system integrated with a 200 kWh storage capacity air-cooled battery bank and a 100 kW Huawei inverter. The company promotes this system for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications with features such as optimal time-of-use (TOD) charging & discharging, arbitrage of energy, and the problem-solving of grid congestion. The connected 100 kW inverter with an energy storage space of up to 200 kWh makes the air-cooled 0.5C-rated battery bank a redundant system with 2 separate air-conditioning units, explained the company. The company also added that each battery bank, equipped with 16 battery cells, has an in-built optimizer and 4 sensors. This product has been commercially available since 2023 in multiple regional markets such as China, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Besides the smart ESS system, the company also launched the S5000 series 150 kW string inverter. This inverter features AFCI functionality and has rapid shutdown capability during any ARC fault event, which protect both personnel and the property. Since June 2024, this product has been commercially available in multiple regional markets like China, Europe, APAC, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.

DC Charging solution

Huawei FusionCharge Solution, equipped with FusionCharge Liquid-Cooled Power Unit and charging dispensers, boasts a maximum DC power of 720 kW and up to 500 A charging current capacity for each connector. The power unit can adopt a power-sharing matrix to optimize the power grid capacity and improve the power utilization rate. These advanced features empower customers to flexibly configure between fast and ultra-fast charging dispensers as required, says Huawei.

The company also showcased multiple new residential-scale string inverters and EV chargers at the event.
