  • The company also highlighted its latest Home Energy Management Solution 6.0, consisting of LUNA S1-7kWh residential ESS

  • The LUNA S1-7kWh residential ESS’ storage capacity can be expanded to up to 252 kWh on demand

Addressing the growing importance of energy storage systems (ESS) integrated with renewable energy (RE) across utility, commercial & industrial (C&I), and residential applications, Huawei Digital Power unveiled its latest storage solutions at Intersolar Europe 2025.

According to the company, the new product lineup incorporates 3 key technological advancements: all-scenario grid-forming technology, cell-to-grid safety architecture, and a "one-matches-all" design – all aimed at accelerating the development of power systems fully powered by renewable energy.

Key Launch Highlights

Among the most notable launches were the LUNA2000-5015 Series Smart String ESS for utility-scale applications and the Home Energy Management Solution 6.0, featuring the LUNA S1-7kWh residential ESS

Smart String ESS

The LUNA2000-5015 Series utility storage solution includes 104.5 kWh battery banks, each composed of 104 LFP cells arranged in a string configuration, delivering a total energy storage capacity of up to 5.015 MWh.

Available in 2 models – LUNA2000-5015-8S and LUNA2000-5015-2S – the system can provide DC power outputs of up to 626 kW (≤ 0.125 C-rate) and 2,507 kW (≤ 0.5 C-rate), respectively, based on the company’s preliminary datasheet. Operating at a DC rated voltage of 1,331.2 V, it can withstand a maximum DC system voltage of 1,500 V.

Equipped with all-scenario grid-forming technology, the system can establish a localized electrical grid in the absence of a conventional grid connection. It supports a wide range of ancillary services, including voltage and frequency regulation, black start, reactive power support, and more.

Its cell-to-grid safety architecture ensures comprehensive protection and reliability across the entire energy path – from individual battery cells to the grid interface.

Proven Performance

To validate these next-generation ESS capabilities, Huawei highlighted real-world deployments. Notably, a 1.3 GWh ESS paired with a 400 MW PV microgrid in the Red Sea region of the Middle East has operated stably for over 18 months, delivering more than 1 billion kWh of renewable energy. In Ngari Prefecture, China, a 30 MW PV + 6 MW/24 MWh ESS project with full grid-forming capability has boosted PV integration capacity by up to 75%.

Residential ESS

For residential applications, Huawei Digital Power introduced its new Home Energy Management Solution 6.0, featuring the LUNA S1-7kWh ESS model. This system offers a base energy storage capacity of 7 kWh, expandable up to 252 kWh. It comes with a 15-year warranty, underscoring its long-term reliability.
