  • JA Solar has introduced a new version of its solar module series, called DeepBlue 4.0 X, marking its entry into the n-type technology market
  • It claims up to 625W power output for the new module and 22.4% power conversion efficiency
  • It integrates the advantages of DeepBlue 3.0 version and other technologies that can help push up its efficiency in mass production to over 24.8%

Chinese solar cell and module manufacturer JA Solar Technology Co, Ltd has officially entered the n-type module club with the launch of DeepBlue 4.0 X based on 182mm wafer size with a maximum power output of 625W and power conversion efficiency of up to 22.4%.

The company's engineers believe mass production efficiency of the DeepBlue 4.0 X module can also exceed 22.4% as it integrates the manufacturer's latest technologies including Bycium+ cell with over 24.8% efficiency as well as the advantages of DeepBlue 3.0 modules.

The DeepBlue 4.0 X n-type module uses passivated contact (TOPCon) cell technology and caters to all segments, namely 54-cell for residential, 72-cell and 78-cells for commercial and utility scale projects.

JA said the module has zero interconnection cell gap and uses optimized encapsulation material that helps avoid micro-crack related issues at the cell interconnection, leading to higher reliability and production stability.

The manufacturer said the power generation of the n-type module is benefited from its high temperature performance and get 2% higher than that of PERC module. The temperature coefficient of n-type is -0.3%/°C while that of PERC is -0.35%/°C.

It touts a TÜV SÜD certificate for these modules having passed the salt mist, ammonia, sand and dust testing, having also cleared IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 tests. It also figured 10% high bifaciality of n-type passivated contact when compared to p-PERC module '80%±10% (between perc and HJT module)', during the field experiment.

JA Solar is offering 12-year product warranty and power warranty of up to 30 years for the n-type module, claiming that 1st year degradation is less than 1% and linear degradation 0.4% in over 30 years.

DeepBlue is a flagship module of JA Solar whose 3.0 version came out in May 2020 with 21.7% efficiency (see DeepBlue 3.0 Pro New Module Launched By JA Solar).

JA Solar will discuss the features of the new module product at TaiyangNews' Intersolar Munich Review Conference, to be held on May 24 and 25, 2022 where tier I companies will present their latest technology developments. Registrations to the virtual conference are free and can be done here.
