Solar PV products manufacturer LONGi from China has published a 22.38% power conversion efficiency record for a monocrystalline solar module. In a brief press statement issued, the company said this new world record has been verified by German independent certification agency TÜV Rheinland.
The company increased its monocrystalline module efficiency from December 2019 when it announced a 21.65% module, which was above the 20.83% level achieved for a 60-cell PERC module in November 2018 (see LONGi Solar Achieves 20.83% Conversion Efficiency).
"LONGi has continuously pushed the modules efficiency limits of our high performance mono-crystalline products to further improve the price-performance ratio. This breakthrough once again confirms the development headroom of monocrystalline module technology," said LONGi Solar Vice President Lv Jun. "With continuous R&D investments in technologies and processes, new innovations can be rapidly applied to large-scale production, thus promoting the energy transformation led by solar energy."
LONGi has been very busy scaling up its annual manufacturing capacity. In November 2019, it signed an agreement with Jiaxing local government in China to develop 5 GW monocrystalline solar module fab with an investment worth RMB 2.2 billion (see LONGi To Develop 5 GW Solar Modules Fab In Jiaxing, China). It is also working on plans to build 20 GW monocrystalline wafer production capacity in Chuxiong, also in China (see LONGi To Add 20 GW More Wafer Capacity In Chuxiong).
