LONGi Bets On PERC Modules For US At RE+ 2025

The exhibits include an ‘assembled-in-US' module and a domestic content cell-based module for the US market

  • LONGi rolled out an ‘assembled-in-US' PERC module at the leading solar event of the continent, RE+ 2025

  • The company promoted its module which is designed to endure up to 50 mm hailstones without failure

  • It also showcased a domestic content module, featuring locally made cells

With the US photovoltaic (PV) market in focus, LONGi’s booth at RE+ 2025 showcased its lineup of PERC cell-based Hi-MO 5 series modules. These have applications across residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), and utility-scale installations.

C&I and Utility Modules

For the C&I and utility applications, the company featured 3 modules – (v4) LR5-78HBD, LR5-72HBD, and (v4) LR5-72HBD – all assembled in the US.

The (v4) LR5-78HBD module, featuring 156 M10 half-cells, boasts a maximum power output of 605 W and an efficiency of 21.6%. The other 2 modules, LR5-72HBD and (v4) LR5-72HBD, consisting of 144 M10 half-cells, deliver a maximum power of 555 W and 560 W, as well as efficiencies of up to 21.5% and 21.7%, respectively. These modules share a common size of 2,278 × 1,134 × 30 mm, while the (v4) LR5-78HBD is bigger at 2,465 × 1,134 × 30 mm. The LR5-72HBD module, which the company calls ‘ice-shield’, is equipped with 3.2 mm front and 2 mm back glass and is certified for hailstorms with up to 50 mm hailstones without failure. In comparison, the (v4) LR5-72HB module, consisting of 2 mm front and rear glass, can withstand up to 25 mm hailstones.

Distributed Generation Module

Alongside the abovementioned modules, LONGi featured 2 models from the LR5-54HPB series, one of which uses made-in-USA cells.

Both modules incorporate 108 M10 half-cells, while the domestic cell-based module is promoted as LR5-54HPB Domestic Content Cell. These modules share common dimensions of 1,722 × 1,134 × 30 mm and a weight of 20.8 kg. However, the imported cell-based product offers slightly higher maximum efficiency of 21.5% compared to 21% for the domestic content version.

On 8th Sep 2025, during the exhibition, TaiyangNews, in collaboration with EUPD Research, and RE+, co-organized a physical conference - Solar - Made in the USA (see Solar – Made in the USA 2025: Growth Amid Challenges, Uncertainty).
