  • LONGi Solar has reported 20.83% module conversion efficiency record, its third since the beginning of the year
  • It achieved the record efficiency for its 60-cell monocrystalline PERC module
  • The company plans to upgrade all its cell production lines to PERC to meet global demand for high-efficiency PERC products

LONGi Solar has announced another module conversion efficiency record – for the third time in 2018. This time it has achieved 20.83% efficiency for its 60-cell monocrystalline PERC module, a world record for this technology, it said. The tests have been verified by Germany's TÜV-SÜD.

The Chinese company is upgrading all its mono cell production lines to PERC technology to 'fully meet the demand of the global market for next generation high-efficiency PERC products'.

"The new breakthrough of module conversion efficiency this time further proves the development headroom of PERC. We firmly believe PERC will play greater technical possibility in the next three years to effectively improve power generation efficiency and reliability of photovoltaic system, lower LCOE and bring higher benefits for customers," said Vice President of LONGi Solar, Dr Lv Jun.

In May 2018, LONGi reported 20.66% efficiency on a 60-cell bifacial module using monocrystalline PERC technology and shingle design (see LONGi: 20.66% Module Efficiency Record), after it reached 20.41% in January. In February, LONGi announced an impressive PERC cell efficiency level of 23.6% (see 23.6% PERC Mono Cell World Record From LONGi)
