Chinese solar PV company DAS Solar has launched its latest product under DAON 3.0 range using TOPCon 3.0 Plus cell technology, making these completely busbar-free (BBF). It unveiled the n-type Sugon series of high efficiency panels at the recent China Photovoltaic Green Supply Chain Conference in China.
The manufacturer claims its power output can reach up to 640W with a conversion efficiency of 23%. It has done away with the use of busbar on the front of the solar cell, collecting the current from the gridlines through solder strips, enabling cell interconnection using its 'innovative technology.'
According to DAS Solar, this technology can further help bring down the use of silver paste, promote further thinning of silicon wafers, thereby bringing down costs and elevating current transfer multiplication (CTM).
The augmented contact points between solder wires and fine gridlines reduce losses resulting from potential cell cracks, significantly heightening module reliability and stability, it added.
Since the new module incorporates features of the DAON 3.0 series, it encompasses the advantages of high efficiency, high bifaciality, low cracks, low temperature coefficient and ultra-low carbon rate. All these factors help it reduce the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of the solar system.
Based on its technical roadmap, DAS Solar targets to move from n-type TOPCon 3.0 Plus technology era towards TOPCon 4.0, and further on to TBC, SCPC, TSiX and SFOS in collaboration with the University of South Wales' (UNSW) Center for Advanced Photovoltaics, headed by Professor Martin Green. It eventually aims to exceed 35% cell efficiency in a 'post-silicon' era (see DAS Solar's Technical Roadmap).
