Norway based solar PV manufacturer REC Group has unveiled an all-black, n-type TOPCon solar module, targeting US rooftop solar segment, which is currently under production at the company's Singapore manufacturing site to be shipped to the US in January 2023.
Calling the new REC N-Peak 3 Black Series the 3rd generation of its n-type TOPCon cell technology, REC offers a nominal power output of 400W for the new product. It uses the company's patented split cell and junction box technology.
The module is available in a 66-cell format with zero light induced degradation (LID), the manufacturer claimed. It has standard, black-colored half-cut monocrystalline cells, a black frame and a black backsheet.
While the company does not specify the efficiency this panel carries, it added that combining n-type and TOPCon technology has created a high efficiency and powerful solar panel, packing as much power as possible in a limited space. There are support bars at the back to help support loads of up to 7,000 Pa.
It offers 20-year product warranty for the panels along with 25-year linear power output warranty with 0.25% warranted annual degradation.
The new offering from REC follows its G12 heterojunction Alpha Pure-R solar panel it launched at Renewable Energy India Expo (REI) 2022 in September 2022 and followed it up with contracting China's Suzhou Maxwell to supply equipment worth 600 MW to produce the same at Singapore location (see REC Places 600 MW HJT Order With China's Maxwell).
Speaking of TOPCon, TaiyangNews is bringing together leading cell, module and PV equipment manufacturers to discuss not just TOPCon, but also HJT and other cell technologies in a 3-day virtual conference titled High Efficiency Solar Technologies—TOPCon, HJT and Beyond, Today & Tomorrow. To be held from November 23 to 25, 2022, it is free for all. Registrations can be done here.
