RenewSys has introduced its anti-acid property EVA for high efficiency PV module manufacturing
The company claims to be the first and only Indian manufacturer to introduce this specialized Anti-Acid EVA Encapsulant
It neutralizes and inhibits acid formation after long-duration environmental stresses like heat and humidity
Well-known PV module failure modes, such as metallization corrosion, yellowness, and delamination, are often attributed to the formation of acetic acid in the laminated EVA. This acid formation is caused by external environmental stresses like heat and humidity. Fortunately, this potential degradation mechanism can be mitigated by preventing or neutralizing acid formation within the module laminate.
In response to this reliability concern, RenewSys, an Indian vertically integrated PV product manufacturer, has recently introduced an innovative EVA encapsulant at the Smarter E India Event. The company, which boasts annual manufacturing capacities of 5.5 GW for solar PV Modules, 9 GW for encapsulants, and 4 GW for backsheets, is also in the process of adding a new 2.5 GW cell line.
The latest EVA encapsulant from RenewSys features anti-acid properties. Its material composition, which the company says neutralizes and inhibits acid formation, prevents the formation of acetic acid, safeguarding the module's integrity. RenewSys claims to be the first and only Indian manufacturer to introduce this specialized Anti-Acid EVA Encapsulant, which is also compatible with high-efficiency cell technologies like TOPCon.
"Our innovative formulation represents a significant leap forward in encapsulant technology. It is specifically designed to protect against acetic acid, a common cause of degradation in solar modules. This is especially crucial for newer technologies like TOPCon, which are more sensitive to chemical and moisture ingress," said Mr. Avinash Hiranandani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at RenewSys.
