  • Risen Energy has rolled out its 1st HJT solar cell G12 half wafer 120μm at its upgraded fab in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province of China
  • These cells with 25.5% efficiency use half wafer with 4 chambers, μc-Si doping layer and low Ag content paste
  • Cell will be used for its HJT module Hyper-ion whose power output can reach over 700W

Chinese integrated solar PV producer Risen Energy has announced successfully reaching mass production for the company's 1st heterojunction (HJT) solar cell based on G12 half wafer 120μm, with cell power conversion efficiency exceeding 25.5%, and used for its HJT module Hyper-ion.

Back in August 2020, Risen launched its Titan series of modules with 600W output using G12 sized silicon wafers, but based on PERC technology. It had been aiming to switch over to HJT technology by the end of 2022. Now, it has announced upgrading the HJT pilot line within last 3 months at its factory in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province of China.

The new cell uses half wafer with 4 chambers, μc-Si doping layer and low Ag content paste. Power output of the module with this cell reaches up to over 700W while module efficiency can reach 22.53%.

"Hyper-ion has passed several extremely safety test such as 5X IEC test and so on. The carbon footprint value (CFP) of Hyper-ion is about 400kg eq CO2/kWc as verified by a 3rd party organization and this will make outstanding contributions to realizing "carbon neutrality" of the world," stated the manufacturer.

Risen claims Hyper-ion can help bring down levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) by 10% compared to PERC modules thus contributing to higher revenues.

The company said it is building more factories to expand the capacity of the Hyper-ion HJT cells and modules.

Earlier in June 2021, the Chinese company launched its NewT@N panel using 210mm sized cells calling these the industry's 1st mass produced module with a power rating of up to 700W and efficiency of 22.5% based on N-type technology (see 700W Solar Power Module From Risen Energy).

Risen Energy's Head of Product Management Yifeng Song will speak about Strengthening High Efficiency HJT Modules With Robust Frame Design during TaiyangNews Intersolar Munich Review Latest Product Updates from Tier 1 Companies, on May 24 and 25, 2022. Registerations to the event are free here.
