Indian technology company Servotech Power Systems Limited (SPSL), with support from Germany's German Development Agency GIZ, has developed what it terms the 'first-of-its-kind' solar performance and monitoring system that can be integrated into any domestic offgrid/hybrid solar system and turn it into a smart system.
Called ComPort, the device is accompanied by an internet of things (IoT) enabled intelligent app that, as Servotech explains, can help identify defects, issue notifications, diagnose issues, and suggest O&M tasks. It can also recognize any underperformance issues or anomalies.
According to the creator of the device, ComPort can be easily installed into any domestic solar system with a do-it-yourself (DIY) manual.
SPSL unveiled the same after successfully testing it with a portable solar system PV Port at the EUREF-Campus in Germany's Berlin.
The PV Port & ComPort has been installed under a bilateral Indo-German program implemented by the GIZ.
"The Pilot PV Port now installed and commissioned at EUREF-Campus will allow further study in the installation of urban PVs across different user segments, contributing to the global endeavor against climate change and dependency on fossil fuels," said GIZ Principal Advisor Joerg Gaebler.
In April 2022, SPSL installed 10 PV Port systems for Gujarat's Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple complex, also in association with GIZ (see India PV News Snippets).
