SMA introduced a range of new solutions for a future-proof energy supply during Intersolar 2023. The spotlight was on the Sunny Boy Smart Energy, a single-phase hybrid inverter.

For commercial users and installers, SMA introduced new storage and charging solutions that could support businesses in tackling the challenges of the new energy world. The company also offers an innovative grid-forming solutions for dynamic grid support in large-scale systems. Another highlight was the SMA container solution for hydrogen production, offering an efficient hydrolysis process using green hydrogen as a zero-carbon energy source for industries like fertilizer production and steelmaking. SMA Home Energy Solutions included the new Sunny Boy Smart Energy, a single-phase SMA hybrid inverter with a brand-new design. It blends seamlessly into the SMA Home Manager 2.0 to manage energy generators, battery storage systems, heat pumps, wallboxes, and home appliances through its role as a smart hub.

The SMA eCharger, expected to launch in 2024, boasts compatibility with the latest ISO 15118 vehicle communications standard. The new SMA eMobility Portal, facilitated by the OCPP interface, enables easy visualization of all charging processes and billing. The product is designed for optimal solar power charging. It eliminates the need for standardized support rails and incorporates a single printed circuit board that integrates communication and power components. This design choice delivers cost benefits, simplified calibration, and promotes more sustainable production practices. Furthermore, the eCharger features a self-learning algorithm that enhances the user's self-consumption optimization. In the future, the eCharger will support bidirectional charging and integrate the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) for dynamic load management.

As part of its offering for Commercial Energy Solutions, SMA promotes its harmonized hardware components and integrated service packages for project planning, installation, and ongoing operation. The new SMA eMobility Solution further facilitates electric fleet management for commercial enterprises, while SMA's experts offer assistance with planning, installation, and using the SMA eMobility Portal. SMA's large-scale energy solutions paved the way for the energy transition with hydrogen, demonstrating how electricity can efficiently power hydrolysis through the fully integrated SMA container solution.
