  • PowerMagic Mini, compatible with AC-coupled configuration, supports up to a 1P charge/discharge rate

Shenzhen, China-based PV and energy storage system (ESS) provider, SOFAR, recently participated in Intersolar Europe 2025 with its 2 newly launched products, PowerIn and PowerMagic Mini. Targeting C&I storage applications, the company says the 2 new solutions introduce a modular, intelligent, and safety-focused approach with simplified O&M (operation and maintenance) and high adaptability.

PowerIn ESS

Supporting up to 200% DC/AC PV oversizing, this system is rated to deliver 150% overload capacity, enabling enhanced energy harvesting. Equipped with an integrated energy management system (EMS), PowerIn features real-time intelligent load control. Regarding upscaling, this system supports flexible battery expansion and mixed state-of-charge (SoC) compatibility of the connected battery bank.

In terms of safety and protection, it features an IP66-rated enclosure for robust environmental protection. In addition, its supportive unbalanced load management enhances grid interaction stability. Any potential fire risk stemming from the PV array’s Arc formation is dealt with through an integrated AI-based Arc Fault Circuit Interruption (AFCI) feature.

PowerMagic Mini – AC-Coupled ESS

Given the limited technical data available for this product, we draw our impressions from the major features mentioned in the company’s press release. Optimized for AC-coupled deployment, PowerMagic Mini enables seamless integration with existing PV systems or standalone applications. It supports up to a 1P charge/discharge rate, ensuring fast energy dispatch in peak demand or backup scenarios.

For efficient storage energy utilization and enhancing the lifecycle of the ESS system, the company says its Battery Management System (BMS), developed in-house, is capable of full-time cell equalization, while improving energy efficiency and boosting usable battery capacity by up to 5% vis-à-vis its conventional counterpart. In addition, its battery banks, featuring comprehensive battery monitoring, enable early fault detection with subsequent predictive and preventive maintenance. One of the standout features of this feature is direct liquid-cooled C&I ESS, which ensures efficient heat dissipation and system stability under high-load operation. Addressing diverse potential safety hazards in C&I-scale applications, it is equipped with a 3-level fire suppression system, directional gas exhausting, and a top-mounted explosion vent.

The system is also certified to operate at a full-load noise level of <60 dB.
