Chinese vertically integrated solar PV manufacturer Trina Solar has announced achieving 26% mass production efficiency for its n-type i-TOPCon advanced solar cell technology resulting in module output of over 700W.

The manufacturer says it achieved this efficiency using 210R rectangular cells that incorporates selective boron emitters and a microstructure reflector on the back and is a highly doped TOPCon structure with PECVD.

Calling it a new advanced technology, Trina said it will upgrade its Vertex n-type module series with this advanced cell from 2024 with the most powerful module in the series generating more than 700 W.

"In the future, with the application of front-side full passivation contact cell technology, the mass production efficiency of Trina Solar's n-type cells with i-TOPCon Ultra technology is forecast to exceed 27%. Furthermore, with the implementation of i-TOPCon tandem technology, cell efficiency is forecast to surpass 30%," stated Trina at the launch during SNEC 2023.

The highest efficient solar module from Trina available for sales today is from its Vertex 5 series – a 445 W module with 144 TOPCon cells and 22.3% efficiency (see TOP SOLAR MODULES Listing May)

The company is planning to achieve 95 GW cumulative module production capacity by 2023-end, along with 75 GW cell which will include 40 GW of n-type cells (see Growing Demand Boosts Trina Solar's 2022 Earnings).

TaiyangNews had a series of executive interviews with Chinese solar companies as part of our TaiyangNews & SNEC Solar Leadership Conversations at SNEC this year. During his interview on this platform, Trina Solar Chairman and President Jifan Gao said the future of the industry belongs to companies with better and higher quality products (see SNEC Exclusive: Trina Solar Chairman Interview).
